A PoE switch has a number of network connections that support Power over Ethernet. This means that a PoE switch supplies power to the connected network devices via these network connections. Thanks to the switch, for example, you can supply an IP camera with PoE capability with power directly via the network cable. You no longer need a power cable to use the camera. Power over Ethernet switches have a number of standard ports and a number of ports with PoE capability. Pay close attention to how many PoE ports you need for your usage situation.
