I have now had this monitor for two months and I want to share my experience.
I was looking for a screen with the following properties:
- large screen to clearly display several windows at the same time and to watch series from my bed (Netflix & chill is still in).
- Good representation of colors to enjoy movies and games as their creators intended.
- Relatively low response time so that gaming is not hindered.
With my criteria I went to the site of my homie Cool Blue and I ended up on this monitor. So just ordered around 23:00 and it was there the next day around 13:00 (whaddup!).
I will give my opinion on the following points: image, sound, user-friendliness and design.
IMAGE
The IPS panel displays the colors beautifully and representatively; if you design something for printing, you can expect that there is hardly any difference between the colors on the screen and the printed colors (provided your printer can do this too).
The size of the screen makes it nice to multitask and watch series, but I recommend having at least 50 cm between yourself and the screen, otherwise it will be more difficult to view the entire screen.
Furthermore, due to the matte screen, you are less bothered by reflections compared to a glossy screen, but you will still notice some of them now and then.
When I bought it, I was worried that 1080p resolution would be too low for a 27-inch screen, but the pixel size is small enough that the image won't get pixelated (provided you don't sit 20 cm in front of it).
SOUND
You should generally not expect much from built-in speakers in monitors, and this also applies to the speakers of this monitor. They do apply to watching short films, but if you want to listen to music or watch a movie/series properly, you probably need other speakers. The speakers do not sound too loud and the frequency range is also moderate.
USABILITY
The screen can be tilted vertically, but it is very stiff, so you can't tilt it easily. The advantage of this is that it stays in place and wobbles little.
There are many options in the image settings, including a "blue light filter", but it is better to replace this option with an automatic program such as "f.lux". The "vivid pixel" setting makes images more alive, but text less legible.
You have to get used to the position of the screen buttons because the designation of the buttons does not seem to align perfectly at every viewing angle, so you often press the wrong button in the beginning.
Unfortunately, there is only 1 HDMI port, so if you want to have both your chromecast and PC connected via an HDMI port, for example, you will have to think about something else or connect your PC via a different input type (VGA or DVI, which both have an HDMI port). slightly lower quality than HDMI).
DESIGN
The design of this monitor does excel. The thin edges give it a clean look and the plastic on the bottom has a brushed steel finish that looks very realistic.
The build quality of the housing is strong and it only wobbles slightly when pressing the on-screen buttons.
The bottom gets dusty quickly, but maybe you'll also clean your desk a little more often (when was the last time you did that?).
CONCLUSION
This monitor has met all my aforementioned wishes and the price is well worth it because of the image quality in combination with the beautiful design.
If you want a slightly larger screen and you care about color representation, this is a good option to consider. If you prefer to sit close to (within 50 cm) a screen then you should go for a smaller screen and if screen colors don't interest you that much then you can opt for a cheaper panel technology such as TN or VA.
