Bright Ambilight QLED TV for atmospheric movie nights

Bright QLED screen
Atmospheric Ambilight lighting
Beautiful and sturdy design
Narrow viewing angle

The Philips Ambilight PQS9001 (2026) is a beautiful QLED TV for your living room. This television features a bright QLED screen, allowing me to watch clear, realistic images in most circumstances. The 3-sided Ambilight lighting makes my viewing experience even more atmospheric, especially when I turn off the lights. Unfortunately, I notice the lighting much less when watching a movie during the day. Also, the image quality deteriorates quickly when I watch from an angle.

Bright QLED screen What I find most striking about the Philips PQS9001 is the QLED screen. Thanks to QLED technology, I watch bright, colorful images. Whether I watch a movie during the day or in the evening, I enjoy a pleasant viewing experience. For instance, I can see every shade of color in a nature documentary. I find the screen bright enough for most living rooms, as long as no direct sunlight shines on the image. The TV handles reflections from ambient light well. The downside is that this TV does not use local dimming, making black tones less realistic. The TV also has a narrow viewing angle, meaning you won't be watching TV with a large group.

Atmospheric Ambilight lighting The PQS9001 features 3-sided Ambilight lighting. This causes the TV to project LED lights onto the wall behind it, so that it matches the colors of what is happening on the screen. Only the bottom of your wall does not change color. Ambilight makes my viewing experience more atmospheric, but also more comfortable. For instance, the transition from screen to wall feels more natural, and I am less likely to strain my eyes. Additionally, this makes the TV appear even larger, even though our test model already has a 65-inch screen. Normally, I would recommend a QLED TV like this for daytime use, but due to the Ambilight lighting, the TV is better suited for the evening or early morning. After all, the Ambilight lighting is barely visible during the day.

Beautiful and sturdy design What I particularly like about the PQS9001 is the design. The TV is not wafer-thin and therefore feels sturdy and reliable. Additionally, the stand consists of two sturdy parts that you attach to the TV with seven different screws. This means the installation takes a bit of work, but you can be sure the stand won't give way easily. The central stand gives the TV a luxurious, beautiful appearance and is flat enough to easily accommodate a soundbar.
