The most common errors of Miele washing machines

If your Miele washing machine malfunctions, an error code usually appears in the display. When no water enters the drum or if there's too much foam in it, for example. You'll want a solution for this Miele malfunction as soon as possible, of course. In this article, you can read what you have to do for each error.

Miele washing machine error F63

F63 error: too much foam

Do you see F63 on the display? If so, there's too much foam in the drum and you may have used too much detergent. Empty the drum completely and run a cotton program at 90°C. Don't use detergent. This way, you can remove excess soap residue. To prevent this, always dose your detergent and fabric softener according to the label on the bottle so you don't use too much.

Miele washing machine error F220

Error F220 or 'water supply error' notification

If you see this error code or notification on the display, there's a problem with the water supply. It means that there's not enough water getting into the drum, or no water at all. A possible solution is to open the water supply completely. Then, check whether there's a blockage or kink in the supply hose. Is the hose broken? Replace it. Turn on the wash cycle again and check if the error is solved.

Miele error F211

Error F211, F212, F213, or F214

This error message indicates that there's a short circuit in the sensor of the TwinDos system. Do you see this code? Dose your laundry detergent and fabric softener manually via the detergent drawer at the top of the washing machine. Contact Miele and have the sensor checked or replaced.

Miele TwinDos error

Notification 'Place TwinDos reservoir'

You see the notification 'Place TwinDos reservoir', even though the TwinDos bottles are placed correctly. It could be that the detergent clumped if you haven't used the washing machine in a while. If that's the case, the dosing system doesn't work. Remove the flacons and rinse the TwinDos system with the TwinDos Care maintenance product. This way, you can rinse the tubes. Put in new flacons and start the washing machine again.

Washing machine drain filter

'Water drain error' notification

The washing machine isn't pumping out the water, which is why the drum is full of water. It could be that the drain filter is clogged. You can check this via the hatch on the front, at the bottom left. To prevent dirt from falling onto your floor, put down a towel to be safe. If there's a hairpin of coin in the filter, take it out. In the article below, you can read what to do to unclog the rest of the drain.

What do I do if the drain of your washing machine is clogged?
Water supply

'Water drain error' notification

Do you see the 'waterproof' notification or a faucet symbol? The leak protection system indicates that there's a leak somewhere. The leak could be in the supply hose, the drum, or the bottom of the washing machine. When you see this error, you should close the water supply and unplug the plug from the socket right away. After that, contact the vendor you bought your washing machine from or contact Miele.

Washing machine error

Error without a code

Does you washing machine indicate an error, but doesn't your old Miele washing machine have a display? You can recognize the error by a combination of lights on the washing machine. Contact Miele for a solution. They'll help you find the cause of the problem.
