If you buy a tablet cover or charger, it's important to know which iPad you have exactly. This way, you can buy accessories that work with your iPad. The iPad models look a lot alike, and often the only difference in their names is the year. That's why it's useful to have the model number of your iPad ready when you buy accessories. In this article, you can read where to find the model number of your iPad.
Get started with finding the model number
There are 2 spots where you can find the model number of your iPad.
- Via the settings on your iPad
- On the casing of your iPad

Find the model number via settings
You can find the answer to the question "Which iPad do I have?" in the settings of your iPad.
- In the settings, tap 'General'.
- Choose 'About'.
- Next to 'Model' is the part number, which starts with an M.
- Tap this and the model number appears.
