The Miele TEH 788 WP EcoSpeed & Wash2Dry tumble dryer dries my laundry relatively quickly without shrinking. The PerfectDry sensors measure how damp my laundry is, so that it never dries for too long. With Wash2Dry I connect the tumble dryer to my Miele washing machine, so that it adjusts the drying program to the laundry. For this I do need a Miele washing machine that I can connect to the app.

First impression The first thing that strikes me is how sturdy the tumble dryer looks and feels. The silver door gives the dryer a beautiful, luxurious finish and thanks to the yellow handle I can immediately see where I have to open the door. I can easily choose between the different programs via the rotary knob. I think the app is a big advantage. This means I don't have to keep walking upstairs to see how long it will take before the dryer is ready, because I can see this via my phone. I also get a notification when it is ready. If I put a smaller load in, the dryer automatically adjusts the drying time. The PerfectDry system has sensors that measure how much laundry is in the dryer and how damp it is. Dries quickly and great, adding a scent is a good innovation, and for the first time I dry my best clothing also in the dryer, instead of drying in the air. But how hard is it to connect the machine to the app? This should be easier. Than again, the app is helpfull and also shows energy use.

Well, I was thrilled with my Miele T478 gas dryer, but after 23 years, the moment I'd been dreading arrived. It wasn't even completely broken (the fan was broken), but the bearings, carbon brushes, and whatever else would be needed soon. Besides that, my Miele washing machine broke down two months ago after 23 years. The new washing machine washes 8 kg. The old dryer dries 5 kg. That's a problem. So, a new one. But how happy can you be with a new dryer if you're used to drying times of 25 minutes? Electric dryers take much longer, and heat pump dryers take forever. But the Miele series with EcoSpeed can dry 9 kg in 1 hour and 30 minutes (my washing machine spins at 1600 rpm). That's a pleasant surprise for me. And then there's the 0.7 kWh power consumption. I'm quite happy with that. Features like Wash2dry are nice because the washing machine tells the dryer which drying cycle it needs. But setting the dryer itself is just as easy with a single button. The scent capsules are also nice. I no longer use fabric softener. My laundry comes out fluffy and smells fresh for a long time. All in all, I'm very happy with this appliance and I definitely won't miss my gas dryer.
