Screen and design
iPhone 13 (Mini): 6.1 or 5.4-inch OLED screen
The Apple iPhone 13 (Mini) has angular sides and a glass back. At the top of the screen is the familiar notch with the built-in Face ID sensor, for example. The notch is more narrow compared to older iPhone models. This way, you'll have more screen space. On the OLED screen of the iPhone 13 (Mini), the images are sharper and brighter than on the LED screen of the iPhone 11. This screen has a Ceramic Shield and it's 4 times more fall-resistant than the screen of the iPhone 11.
iPhone 11: 6.1-inch LED screen
The iPhone 11 has the familiar design of the iPhone X and onwards. The sides have a rounder finish and the back is made of glass. This device also has a notch, but it's wider and more visible. The the images on the 6.1-inch screen have a nice quality, but they're less sharp than on the OLED screen of the iPhone 13 (Mini). In addition, the screen is less bright. It's less easy to see what's on the screen when it's in the sunlight. The screen is also less fall-resistant, because it doesn't have Ceramic Shield.
Performance
iPhone 13 (Mini): future-proof A15 Chip
Thanks to the A15 Bionic Chip, the device is very fast. Apps open fast and work without slowing down. This allows you to easily edit photos and I can listen to music in the background. You can also multitask smoothly, thanks to the 4GB RAM. Thanks to regular software and security updates, the device will last at least until 2026.
iPhone 11: A13 Chip, less future-proof
The A13 Bionic Chip of the iPhone 11 was introduces in 2019, just like the device. You won't notice that much. Apps launch fast, but they do have a longer loading time compared to the iPhone 13 (Mini). This device also has 4GB RAM, so you can smoothly multitask. The iPhone 11 is less future-proof, but it will last until 2024 at least.
Cameras
iPhone 13 (Mini): night mode on all lenses
You can find 2 different camera lenses on the back of the iPhone 13 (Mini). There's a standard lens and a wide-angle lens. With both lenses, you can always take sharp photos, even in low light or the dark. With the new Cinematic Mode, you can give videos a cinematic effect. This allows you to focus more on the subject you're recording, and you can switch focus between 2 people, for example.
iPhone 11: same camera lenses, fewer functions
The iPhone 11 has exactly the same camera lenses on the back, but they're placed below each other. But there's a difference to the iPhone 13 (Mini). For example, only the standard lens supports the night mode. That means the performance of the wide-angle lens isn't as good in the dark. In addition, the aperture of the standard lens is smaller. You'll have good quality photos, but they're less sharp than the photos you can take with the iPhone 13 (Mini).
Battery and charging
iPhone 13 (Mini): battery for a working day, MagSafe
There's a difference between the battery life of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini, because the devices differ in size. With average use, the iPhone 13 surely lasts a day. The iPhone 13 (Mini) lasts a working day. That's about 19 and 14 hours of video playback. That's not the case if you stream via the internet. You can attach various MagSafe accessories to the back of both devices magnetically. This can be a wireless MagSafe charger or a card wallet, for example.
iPhone 11: good battery life, no MagSafe
The iPhone 11 has the same battery life as the iPhone 13 (Mini). This device will also last a whole working day. According to apple, you can watch videos for 17 minutes. You have to save your favorite movies and series onto your iPhone 11 and not stream them via the internet. That's the same amount as the iPhone 13 Mini, but 2 hours fewer than the iPhone 13. The device doesn't support MagSafe, but you can charge the iPhone 11 wirelessly.
Versions
iPhone 13 (Mini): standard 128GB and 5G
The standard version of the iPhone 13 (Mini) is available with 128GB storage. That's enough for all your photos, apps, and files. Isn't that enough? There's also a 256 and 512GB version. The iPhone 13 (Mini) allows you to connect to 4G and the fast 5G. Note that you need a 5G mobile data plan for this. Apple doesn't provide a charger and earbuds with the iPhone by default anymore. You do get a 1m USB-C to Lightning cable.
iPhone 11: standard 64GB, no 5G support
The starter model of the iPhone 11 has 64GB storage space. That's a limited amount if you have a lot of photos and videos. If you need more, there's also a 128 and 256GB version. This devices doesn't support 5G. Keep in min that you can only connect to the 4G network. The iPhone 11 doesn't come with a charger and earbuds anymore. Just like the iPhone 13 (Mini), it only comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable, so no charger and earbuds anymore.
Conclusion
The Apple iPhone 13 (Mini) is a better device, thanks to the more powerful A15 Chip, the sharper and more fall-resistant OLED screen, the better cameras, and 5G support. If you don't find that important and if you don't need the latest version, the iPhone 11 is a nice device. Keep in mind the the iPhone 11 doesn't get as many software and security updates as the iPhone 13 (Mini).
