Apple announced the latest iPhone model on 19 February 2025: the Apple iPhone 16e. The iPhone 16e is a small and fast device with the same 48-megapixel camera as the iPhone 15. It does miss some useful functions, like a wide-angle lens, MagSafe charging, and Dynamic Island. We'll tell you all about the iPhone 16e.

The Apple iPhone 16e is a fast, small smartphone. You can quickly open apps and use them without slowdowns. The 6.1-inch screen is just as large as that of an iPhone 16, 15, and 14. This means the device easily fits in your pant or jacket pocket. With the 48-megapixel camera on the back, you can take sharp photos even in low light. On the iPhone 16e, you can also use convenient AI functions in the future. However, it isn't clear when these are coming to Europe yet.
The biggest differences with the iPhone 16
The iPhone 16e is a more affordable alternative to the iPhone 16, but does miss some functions.
- Camera: the iPhone 16e doesn't have a wide-angle lens, so it's harder to photograph large groups of people or wide landscapes.
- Dynamic Island: at the top of the iPhone 16e screen, there's a notch in the screen that you can't do anything with. The iPhone 16 has the Dynamic Island there, a menu you can quickly control apps with.
- MagSafe: MagSafe accessories don't work with the iPhone 16e. This means you can't attach a MagSafe charger or power bank to your device. Wireless charging also takes longer than with an iPhone 16 this way. A full charge takes 2 hours longer.
