First impression Sony BRAVIA 8 II

First impression of the Sony BRAVIA 8 II

The box of the Sony BRAVIA 8 II contains a quick start guide, manual, power cord, 2 metal leg stands, and 2 remotes with AAA batteries. The second remote doesn't have voice controls or shortcuts for apps, but a traditional keyboard. I think this is a nice addition. That way, I have a remote for streaming services and a remote for traditional TV programs. The installation of the BRAVIA 8 II is easy, but the TV does take a long time to boot. It's not clear whether the TV is reacting to the on/off button right away.

Sony BRAVIA 8 II QD-OLED display

Realistic OLED display

The BRAVIA 8 II has a QD-OLED display. The pixels of this television illuminate themselves without LED backlight. Right away, I notice that the contrast between light and dark parts of the image is strong. Black is truly black and light sources shine brightly, without an annoying gray glow. In a close-up of a mountain of cherries, I can see every detail of the fruits. At the same time, the background is completely black. Thanks to the wide viewing angle, it doesn't matter where I sit. Whether I'm in front of the screen or next to it, the image remains realistic.

Sony BRAVIA 8 II QLED technology

Colorful QLED images

With the BRAVIA 8 II, you can enjoy deep black levels from OLED pixels. This TV also uses QLED technology for bright, rich colors. I see this as a clear advantage. OLED TVs are mostly suitable for dark rooms due to their lower brightness, but that's not the case for the BRAVIA 8 II. Thanks to the super tiny Quantum Dots behind the screen, I think this TV is bright and colorful enough for every room. I can see all color details of a volcanic eruption.

High refresh rate Sony BRAVIA 8 II

High refresh rate

This TV has a 100Hz refresh rate. This way, fast actions in movies, series, and games look smooth. During a race, I can see all actions of every driver. PlayStation 5 games come into their own as well this way. I can respond to what's happening on the screen faster. The only thing is that a variable refresh rate for PC games isn't possible. This means I can't play games with a 144 or 165Hz refresh rate.

Slim design Sony BRAVIA 8 II

Slim design

The Sony BRAVIA 8 II has a realistic screen as well as a beautiful design. The TV stands on 2 sturdy steel leg stands that you screw to the back. These stands are adjustable in height, so I can choose how high the TV is. The BRAVIA 8 II is an OLED TV, so it has a super thin screen. That's because there's no LED lighting behind the screen, which saves space. I do find the TV very sturdy. thanks to the sleek finish, I feel free to move the television.

Conclusion

I think the BRAVIA 8 II is a real must-have for movie lovers, sports fans, and PlayStation 5 gamers. Thanks to the QD-OLED display, you can enjoy realistic images in every room. It doesn't matter where you're sitting or where you place the TV. Thanks to the 100Hz refresh rate, you can see every action in your favorite movies, series, and games. The TV has a thin screen, but feels sturdy thanks to the steel leg stands and sleek finish.
