How do I set up my Nikon SnapBridge?

The Nikon SnapBridge application makes sure your Nikon camera is always connected to your Android or IOS smartphone or tablet. Photos from your camera will automatically be updated to the app on your smart device. That's convenient if you want to quickly share your pictures with family and friends. This page will tell you how to configure the app.

SnapBridge or Snapbridge 360/170?

Before you can use SnapBridge, you have to determine which SnapBridge app you need. In the App Store, you'll find 2 variants of this application. Choose SnapBridge if you have a compatible Nikon compact, mirrorless, or SLR camera, or if you have the Nikon KeyMission 80. Choose SnapBridge 360/170 if you have a Nikon Keymission 360 or 170 action camera.

Step 1: download the SnapBridge app

Before you can use SnapBridge, you'll first need to download the app. Note: the app store offers 2 versions of this application. Choose SnapBridge. Don't select SnapBridge 360/170, as that's only suitable for the Nikon Keymission 360 and 170 action cameras.

Step 2: Open the SnapBridge start screen

In your camera's menu, go to the option "connect to smart device." Wait until the SnapBridge start screen appears. Press "Ok" and the camera will transmit the wireless signal.

Step 3: connect your smart device to the camera

  • Switch on the Bluetooth and WiFi function on your smart device.
  • Open the SnapBridge app. In the list of devices you can connect to, you can see the name of your camera (For instance, D3400_6002251).
  • Tap it. On an iOS device, you'll need to tap the device twice. Your smart device will now connect to the camera. For Android devices with NFC, hold your phone against the camera to connect.
  • On the smart device and camera, you'll see the authorization code. When these codes match, you tap "connect" on your smart device and press the "Ok" button on your camera.

Your camera and smart device have now been connected! The camera will automatically send photos to SnapBridge on your smart device. The app will also ask you if you want to sync your smart device's date, time, and GPS location to your camera.

Nikon SnapBridge 360/170

Step 1: download the SnapBridge 360/170 app

Before you can use SnapBridge, you'll first need to download the app. Note: the app store offers 2 versions of this application. Choose SnapBridge 360/170. Don't select SnapBridge, as it's not suitable for the Nikon Keymission 360 and 170 video cameras.

Step 2a: turn on SnapBridge on your Keymission 360

While turning on the camera, press and hold the record button until two green LEDs blink alternately. The camera is now sending the wireless signal. Check if the camera's airplane mode is turned off. You can check it by opening the cover on the side and checking if the button with the airplane icon is switched to "off".

Step 2b: open the SnapBridge start screen on your Keymission 170

Go to your camera's menu by pressing the "OK" button. Navigate the menu using the arrow buttons. Use the "OK" button to confirm your selection. Select the key icon. Choose "camera settings". Select "network menu" and then "connect to smart dev." The Nikon SnapBridge menu will be shown. There, select "options" and press next. The light on the back of the camera will now blink (red/green). This indicates that the camera is transmitting the wireless signal.

Step 3: connect your smart device to the camera

Open the SnapBridge app. In the list with devices you can connect, you'll see your camera's name (For instance, Keymission 360_40006013). Tap it. On an iOS device, you'll need to tap the device twice. Your smart device will now connect to the camera. For Android devices with NFC, hold your phone against the camera to connect. On the smart device and the Keymission 170 camera, you'll see the authorization code. When these codes match, tap "connect" on your smart device and press the "Ok" button on your Keymision 170 camera. In case of the Keymission 360, the camera will connect automatically after selecting the device you want to connect.

Your camera and smart device have now been connected! You can control the camera remotely using your smart device. On top of that, photos are transferred automatically to SnapBridge. You can sync your smart device's date, time, and GPS location to your camera.

Compatible cameras

The following Nikon cameras are compatible with the Nikon SnapBridge app: A300, A900, B500, B700, D500, D3400, D5600, D7500, P1000 W100, W300 and KeyMission 80. \ n \ nThe following Nikon cameras are compatible with the Nikon SnapBridge 360 / 170 app: KeyMission 360 and KeyMission 170.
