As soon as you open this 16-inch all-rounder, you'll be surprised by the huge screen. It's nice that the back of your keyboard on the screen side rises slightly when the laptop is open, your keyboard is then slightly slanted and that taps away so nicely. The large trackpad responds smoothly and accurately, but you have to use some force to click. The keys have just enough travel and it is nice that there is a numeric keypad. Unfortunately, the numeric keys are also smaller than the rest of the keys on this model from Lenovo (only the Thinkpad models have the numeric part the same size). With the relatively fast 1GB SSD in this IdeaPad, you have plenty of room for all your data. The screen in this Flex product from Lenovo is beautifully clear and colourfast, the touch controls work fine. I think the screen is a bit too reflective. It is a pity that you always have to turn on the keyboard lighting manually after starting up, there is no setting for an “always on” in the UEFI, nor in the supplied Lenovo Vantage utility. A pen is missing. Because there is nowhere to find which pens are supported, I checked with Lenovo Support. Compatible are: TOUCHPEN WCM 10162B6 D9.5 BP3 and TOUCHPEN WCM 10161C6 D9.5 BP3. Unfortunately, both pens have long delivery times, so Lenovo really misses an opportunity. The battery runs out quickly if you set the screen to full brightness, but with Lenovo's quick charge you'll be back at 80% within half an hour. There's plenty of computing power with the i7-12th gen, but note it's an i7-U, not a faster i7-H or i7-HX. With 16 GB of internal memory, it is nevertheless a laptop where you can expect speed. Unfortunately, serious games cannot be played on it due to the shared video card that is approaching the end of life: Intel Iris Xe. If, like me, you want to program on it, edit simple graphics or simply browse, email and word-processing, then this is - especially given the relatively low price - an excellent choice.

I first ordered an HP Omen. It was more expensive, but I really thought it was a disaster. The fan kept whirring and I didn't even use the video card yet. That will irritate in the long run. The HP's screen also wobbled with every touch. Didn't feel right at all. That is all different with Lenovo. Sturdy screen and laptop feels solid. I doubted for a long time whether I really needed a touchscreen. Turns out to be a real plus. Sometimes you lose the arrow for a while. Don't worry, you just click with your finger where you need to be. Main drawback: I now never want a laptop without a touchscreen again.
