Acer Chromebook Plus 516 (CB516-1H-358R)

I haven't been using it long enough, but so far everything is running smoothly and quickly.

Starting up the laptop is very simple with your Google account. This is very easy, and if you don't have one, it's not a problem. The integrated AI is user-friendly with various functions. The laptop works fast and is fine for light work tasks and home use. However, I do find the laptop quite heavy, and I wouldn't be quick to take it everywhere with me.

I have been using the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 for a while now, and overall, I am very satisfied. Setup was surprisingly simple. Within a few minutes, I was automatically logged into all my Google apps with my Gmail address. This is a big advantage for me, because I am fully integrated into the Google ecosystem and everything synchronizes immediately without any hassle.

The screen is the first thing that stands out. It is a large 16-inch WUXGA panel with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio. That means a bit more vertical workspace, which is nice when editing documents or spreadsheets. The image looks sharp, and the matte coating helps prevent reflections. I have no complaints about this.

The keyboard types nicely and also features a numpad. If you work with numbers regularly, like I do with spreadsheets and administration, that is a real plus. Not every Chromebook in this price range offers that.

What I also really appreciate is the strong focus on AI. Gemini and NotebookLM come pre-installed and work smoothly right away, without me having to install anything myself. For me, as a Google ecosystem user, that is a nice addition that makes daily use even more convenient.

What I am less happy with are the speakers. The sound comes out weak and shrill, especially at higher volumes. It is fine for a video call or a YouTube video, but anyone who wants to listen to music seriously would be wise to connect headphones or an external speaker.

In terms of speed, the device works quickly and smoothly. Switching tabs without stuttering and Google apps run without delay. If you work a lot in Google Docs, Sheets, or Gmail, this is a real asset. For heavier tasks outside the Google ecosystem, a Chromebook is obviously not the first choice, but that is not what this device is intended for.

All in all, a strong Chromebook for those who live in Google and want a large screen with a good keyboard. The mediocre speakers are the only real downside, hence 4 stars instead of 5.
