The network card was dead on arrival, meaning no working Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. After replacing the MediaTek Wi-Fi card with an NCM865 from AliExpress, I haven't had a single problem since. It is a real shame, though, that it had to happen this way. Having the laptop replaced isn't an option, since it contains the same unreliable network card.
