With the Alecto SA-110 (10 years) 3-pack, you are set for a while. The built-in battery lasts up to 10 years. When the detectors detect smoke, they'll sound an 85dB audio signal. You can turn of the sound up to 10 minutes with the time-out button. When the battery is almost empty, the detector will indicate that with an audio signal. They also have a test and reset button. Test both detectors once per month, so you're sure they work. All the mounting material is included by default, so you can get started right away when you receive them.
