How do you set up your LG television?
Set up your LG TV in 11 steps
Do you have a new LG TV? We've made an installation plan with 11 steps. You can follow these steps and you'll enjoy your favorite movies or TV shows in no time.
- Step 1: select a country and language

Step 1: select a country and language
During the first step, your television wants to know in which country it is and which language you speak. For the first option, choose the country where you live and then the language of the settings and notifications of the LG TV. Then, click 'next'.
Step 2: connect the cables
Next, you can connect the cables. For example, you can connect a gaming console or a Blue-ray player with HDMI cables. You can connect external devices to the HDMI connectors, like a digital decoder or Blu-ray player. With multiple HDMI connectors, you can connect multiple devices at the same time, so you don't have to keep switching cables.
Step 3: select the right WiFi network
Now, you can connect the television via WiFi. First, you choose the right WiFi network at your home. Click on the arrow pointed downwards to search the WiFi network. Found it? Press 'connect'. You can also choose to connect the TV to the WiFi network via your LG smartphone. Press the button 'via LG mobile' and follow the steps on your phone.
Step 4: enter your password
If you've found your home network, you can enter your WiFi password. You scroll through the keyboard and enter all letter, symbols, and/or numbers one by one. When you're done, you can press the arrow. You'll see a message that your TV is connected to the WiFi.
Step 5: accept the Terms and Conditions
You'll get a long text in front of you. These are the Terms and Conditions, where you can find information on privacy. Take you time to read these. Click 'accept' when you've read everything. No time or don't want to read it all now? Choose the option 'later' and you can go through them another time. Good news, part 1 of the installation is done. Choose 'TV only' for the next option and press 'next'.
Step 6: antenna, cable, or satellite
For the next step, you can indicate how your TV will receive its signal. The first option is an antenna. The digital TV will receive its signal via the ether (DVB-T) and send it through to your television. With a cable connection, you'll receive your channels via a cable (DVB-C). A cable will run rom the wall to the TV. Your LG TV will receive a radio and TV signal. It's also possible to receive a signal via satellite antenna (DVB-S) and decoder. This is called a satellite connection.
Step 7: choose the right TV provider
During the next step, you can indicate which TV provider you have. Did you check the right option? Click 'Next'.
Step 8: check the overview
In the next menu, you'll see an overview of the way the television will search for channels. Did you make a mistake? Press 'Reset' and follow the steps again. Is everything alright? Press 'Next'.
Step 9: search for channels on the TV
During the next step, your television will ask you how it has to search for channels. Most new television will only search digitally, but in some cases, the TV can also search in an analog way. Choose the option which applies to you and press 'Next'. After your LG TV has searched for all channels, it'll show an overview of all the results. Press 'Done' to finish the searching process.
Step 10: install the LG ThingQ app, if you want
Some LG television have the ThingQ artificial intelligence technology, so you can connect the TV with other LG devices. Via an app on you LG smartphone, you can control various functions. You can download the app by scanning the QR code on the screen.
Step 11: the installation is done
You're done with the installation. Do you want to change something? Select 'Back'. When you're finished, press 'Close'.
