How do I turn 2 or more Sonos speakers into a group?
What do you need?
- 2 or more Sonos speakers that are installed on the same network. Do you still need to install your Sonos speakers? Click here.
- The Sonos Controller app on your smartphone or tablet.
Step 1: open the Sonos controller app
Grab your smartphone or tablet and open the Sonos Controller app. Make sure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Sonos speakers.
Step 2: tap the name of the speaker
At the top of the screen is the name of the speaker on which you are currently playing music. Tap it.
Step 3: Tap Group
You will now see a list of all the speakers in your network. Tap Group behind 1 of the speakers on which you want to play music.
Step 4: select the speakers
You will now see a list of all available speakers for this group. By tapping the ball in front of the speaker, you add or remove a speaker. If the ball is red with a check mark in it, it is added to the group.
Step 5: Tap Done
In the top right, tap Done. You are now back in the list with all the speakers in your network.
Step 6: tap the group
In the list you now see that 2 (or more) speakers are joined together. Tap this group.
Step 7: play a song
We will now test whether the group works. Play a song in the Sonos Controller app and check if you hear music through all the speakers in the group.
You have now created a group. Once you choose this, you send music to all speakers within the group. If you want to add or remove speakers from the group, you can easily adapt them. Tap the Group button again and switch the desired check marks on or off. If you want to adjust the volume of an individual speaker, tap the volume bar once in the playback menu. In the next screen, adjust the volume of each speaker separately. Do you want to know how to make a stereo pair of 2 speakers? Then click on the button below.
